Work Summary

 

Dr. Souryal is a Professor of Criminal Justice and Ethics, the College of Criminal Justice, Sam Houston State University. As a former police officer and public manager, Dr. Souryal taught police and management courses at the University of Wisconsin and Sam Houston State University. His special interest is in the study of ethics and values in criminal justice agencies. His focus is mainly on the roles of justice in a civil society. He regularly trains police officer, correctional officers, and probation/parole officers in the philosophy and application of ethics.

Dr. Souryal has written numerous books, articles, and scholarly papers on police administration and management, and ethics in policing. He publishes regularly in the Justice Quarterly, Criminal Justice Education, Criminal Justice Ethics, and the Journal of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law.
